Citadel DB Bradlee Jones Commits to Rutgers Football

Rutgers adds speed to the DB room in the transfer portal.

Rutgers football has added some speed to its secondary as Citadel DB Bradlee Jones has decided to commit to the Scarlet Knights. Bradlee started every game for the Bulldogs over the past few seasons and comes to Rutgers with one season of eligibility remaining.

Jones joined the Citadel as a part of the 2023 recruitment class. During his freshman season, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound Jones appeared in 11 games and recorded 23 total tackles. He earned the starting cornerback job in 2024 and recorded 30 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, eight passes broken up, and three kicks blocked en route to being named a Phil Steele all-SoCon Fourth Team Defensive Back.

In 2025, Jones recorded 53 tackles, 8 pass breakups, and 1 fumble recovery, which he returned for a touchdown. In coverage this season, Jones allowed 29 receptions on 45 targets for 382 yards and three touchdowns.

In addition to playing football for the Citadel, he also ran track for the school as well. He was the Southern Conference champ in the 100-meter race and the 200-meter race for the 2025 outdoor track season.

With his addition, Rutgers has landed another cornerback for the 2026 season, as it had landed Zahmir Dawud from Villanova earlier in the portal. Jones is the tenth transfer portal addition for the 2026 class. The Knights hope that his stellar speed can help him as he makes the jump up to the Big Ten level.
