The MIAA released its first tournament power rankings of the 2025-26 winter season on Friday, Jan. 9. See where the local teams stand.

The MIAA released its first tournament power rankings of the 2025-26 winter season on Friday, Jan. 9. 

There are five divisions in boys and girls basketball, four divisions for boys hockey and two for girls. The top 32 teams in each division qualify automatically for the postseason, as do all teams with at least a .500 record.

A total of 16 SouthCoast teams — eight for boys basketball, four for girls basketball, three for boys hockey and one for girls hockey — are on pace to make the playoffs.

Here's a sport-by-sport look at where SouthCoast basketball and ice hockey teams stand as of 4 a.m. on Friday morning.

BOYS BASKETBALL (Top 32 qualify)

Div. 1: New Bedford (12)

Div. 2: Bishop Stang (20), Dartmouth (45)

Div. 3: GNB Voc-Tech (5), Old Rochester (11), Apponequet (18), Fairhaven (30)

Div. 4: Wareham (1)
