The former four-star recruit will head to Fort Worth after two years in Lubbock.
The TCU Horned Frogs continue to target pass rush help through the transfer portal, gaining a commitment on Thursday from Texas Tech redshirt freshman edge rusher Cheta Ofili. A former four-star high school recruit out of Sachse, Texas, Ofili comes to Fort Worth after two seasons with the Red Raiders. The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder appreared in one game as a true freshman in 2024 and redshirted before playing 10 games in 2025. Ofili, who had two tackles and a tackle for loss this season, is TCU’s first edge rusher signed through the transfer portal.
Ofili is the 10th transfer portal addition for the Horned Frogs, who have addressed a wide variety of needs in the portal this offseason. TCU will be replacing top edge rusher Devean Deal, a two-time All-Big 12 selection who was a Second Team recipient this season. Although TCU lost Jonathan Bax to the transfer portal, the Horned Frogs are bringing back redshirt junior Paul Oyewale, who had been rumored to be going into the portal last month. Ofili, who has three years of eligibility remaining, signed with TTU out of high school over Cal, SMU and more.
