LOS ANGELES -- USC's true freshman backup quarterback, Husan Longstreet, has announced that he is entering the transfer portal after just one season playing for Southern California, according to Steve Wiltfong of On3. Longstreet will enter the 2026 season with four years of eligibility left.
Longstreet was a late flip back in November of 2024 for Lincoln Riley, as the former five-star quarterback had originally committed to Texas A&M before signing with the Trojans in the following month. In his only year wearing cardinal and gold, Longstreet appeared in four games behind starter Jayden Maiava and completed 13 passes for 103 yards and a touchdown.
On the other side of the coin, USC will enter the 2026 season with two quarterbacks, with Jayden Maiava manning the offense and recently signed four-star true freshman Jonas Williams. The Trojans will most likely target the transfer portal for a third quarterback behind Maiava and Williams, but have already signed a handful of defensive players from the portal, including cornerback Jontez Williams.
The few top names coming out of the portal in terms of the quarterback position are sophomore quarterback Sam Leavitt from Arizona State and Auburn transfer Deuce Knight. There is no telling what other names are on the Trojans' radar, but USC has made its case for success in the quarterback department.
The 6-foot, 200-pound quarterback becomes the 19th Trojan to enter the transfer portal, joining the likes of his brother, Kevin Longstreet, a defensive back who transferred to New Mexico, cornerback Braylon Conley, wide receiver Prince Strachan, and defensive lineman Devan Thompkins.
