Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Dario Vidošić says that he is not setting any long-term goals for his side and that the focus is on continuous improvement.
The Seagulls begin the second half of the season in seventh position in the Barclays Women’s Super League table. The Sussex club are just a point off the top half.
When speaking to the media ahead of this weekend’s trip to Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion boss Vidošić said that the aim is to to continually get better.
“We just want to keep building,” Vidošić said. “There’s no real set [target], it’s always the same every week and that’s to go out and try to win the game. Each and every day, it’s just about how we develop the players and the squad, our game style and our model.
“We are constantly looking at things, refining things and trying to make things better and every individual better. I never really like to look at the finish line when we are at the halfway point.”
Vidošić is yet to get the better of Aston Villa boss Natalia Arroyo. He says that he has been impressed with the Spaniard since she arrived in England almost a year ago and is expecting another competitive match up this weekend.
He said “She’s done really well since coming in. Initially, she had an idea of play and then changed that method, so they became a little bit more with the back-three and a bit more in transition, they can hit you very fast. They’re very dangerous in those moments with Kirsty [Hanson], Rachel Daly and Chasity Grant, they start attacking the deep, so we have to be very wary of that.
“Even in round one, we deserved it that day. We had a goal that was wrongly disallowed for offside and we had a couple of other good chances that we just couldn’t put away. It was a good match up and it always has been, so we look forward to that match up again at Villa Park.”
Brighton & Hove Albion do not play a top-four side until mid-February and Vidošić admits that it’s an important few weeks for his side.
He said “It’s an important part [of the season] these first few games to mid-February where we’re playing a run of teams that are around us or just below us. There’s a lot of away travel but we look forward to it.”
Brighton & Hove Albion’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Aston Villa kicks-off at 12pm on Sunday afternoon.
