Haley Kalil has broken her silence after her ex-husband, Matt Kalil, accused her of making “invasive” remarks about their marriage. The influencer’s legal team has responded to the lawsuit that the former NFL pro has recently filed against her.
Haley Kalil reportedly moving to ‘dismiss’ Matt Kalil’s lawsuit
Haley Kalil is speaking out following a lawsuit that her ex-husband filed against her on Tuesday, January 6. In it, the former NFL pro called her out for making an “invasive” remark about their marriage during a livestream with Marlon Garcia in November.
Speaking with PEOPLE, Haley Kalil’s attorney, Matthew Bialick, dismissed the former Minnesota Vikings star’s case as “legally unsupported.” He announced that her legal team plans to “immediately move to dismiss it.”
Bialick continued, “The claims seek to dramatically expand existing law and establish damaging new precedent by imposing liability on a woman for merely speaking openly and truthfully about a prior relationship.”
Haley’s legal representative further added, “That raises serious First Amendment concerns, especially in a case involving two public figures.”
Haley also issued an official statement to PEOPLE. “The truth is in the original livestream – which is still live on Marlon’s YouTube account. I speak highly of him in multiple ways throughout that conversation,” she said.
The former Sports Illustrated model added that she was “genuinely shocked and incredibly hurt upon receiving the news of this filing.” She also said, “Litigation is a harrowing and emotionally draining experience, and I am heartbroken that he is choosing to subject us and our families to this ordeal.”
According to the lawsuit, Matt Kalil alleged that Haley, “implied that the size of Plaintiff’s genitalia was a primary factor in the parties’ divorce and claimed that sexual intercourse with Plaintiff would leave her ‘in tears.'” The former NFL star also claimed that he has received “unwanted attention and invasive commentary from the public.”
Kalil is calling for a jury trial and has demanded damages totaling more than $75,000 “on all causes asserted in the complaint.”
