MADISON – The Wisconsin football program continued to add players from the transfer portal to its 2026 roster on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
Lucas Simmons was the third offensive lineman to annoounce his commitment during this cycle, something he did on his Instagram page in the morning.

How can Lucas Simmons help the Wisconsin Badgers?
Simmons, who was second on the Seminoles’ two-deep at left tackle, gives the Badgers a potential starter at the position. UW must replace left tackle Riley Mahlman, who completed his eligibility, and must be prepared for uncertainty that comes with having a player returning from an ACL injury as Kevin Heywood will attempt to do.
Also, coach Luke Fickell has repeatedly stressed the need of having older, more physically mature players to compete in the Big Ten. Simmons, who will be in his fourth year of college, provides that to a room that will have 10 players who are freshman or sophomore eligible. He presence should also raise the competition level for playing time.
