Max Alleyne will make his Manchester City senior debut tonight as Pep Guardiola’s team take on Brighton in the Premier League.
The 20-year-old defender spent the first half of 2025/26 on loan at Championship outfit Watford.
And after impressing in his 16 league appearances, Alleyne has been recalled to the City Football Academy to complete the campaign in Guardiola’s first-team squad.
It’s not Alleyne’s first time being involved in City’s squad. In 2023, the centre half travelled to Red Star Belgrade as part of Guardiola’s Champions League squad before being named in our 2023 FIFA Club World Cup team.
In 2024/25, the England youth international was also part of City’s matchday squad for our Champions League games against Paris Saint-Germain and Club Brugge and Premier League clashes with Everton and Ipswich.
Alleyne’s journey to senior football with City began back in 2021, when the Bristol-born defender joined from Southampton’s academy.
His debut campaign in blue in 2021/22 ended with an Under-18 Premier League title after 16 appearances.
In 2022/23 he was named the Under-18s Player of the Year as Ben Wilkinson’s side were crowned Under-18 Premier League National champions yet again.
Alleyne featured in all-but three of the Under-18s league games including the final when City fought from a goal down to beat West Ham 2-1 after extra-time at the Etihad Stadium.
In 2023/24 Alleyne gained valuable Premier League 2 experience before helping the Elite Development Squad to a PL2 title in 2024/25, in which he helped City keep an impressive nine clean sheets in 21 appearances.
Everyone at Manchester City would like to congratulate Max on his senior debut.
