Virginia Tech football: UConn CB Cam Chadwick transfers to Hokies

The Hokies add a potential starter at cornerback.

The Virginia Tech Hokies continue to add players through the NCAA transfer portal. On Tuesday, they landed their first cornerback, when UConn cornerback Cam Chadwick revealed he was heading to Virginia Tech.

The 6-foot-0, 185-pound Chadwick picked the Hokies over TCU.

A native of Somerville, New Jersey, Chadwick has two years of eligibility remaining with the Hokies. Chadwick played four games as a freshman in 2023 before redshirting. In 2024, he moved into the starting lineup, playing in 12 games, recording 47 tackles, six passes defensed, and two interceptions.

Chadwick continued his strong play in 2025, appearing in all 13 games for the Huskies, finishing with 67 tackles, including 2.5 for loss, four interceptions, four passes defensed, and one sack.

UConn coach Jim Mora left to become the head coach at Colorado State, and Chadwick chose to take the opportunity to move up and play at a higher level. The Hokies have lost multiple players from the secondary via the transfer portal, so Chadwick will immediately figure into the two-deep for 2026 and will challenge to start.

A nice, under-the-radar pickup for Virginia Tech.
