Northwestern football has found its transfer quarterback.
On Tuesday night, Michigan State transfer Aidan Chiles committed to Northwestern football with one year of eligibility remaining. Chiles previously spent the 2024 and 2025 seasons with the Spartans, as well as the 2023 season with Oregon State.
During the 2025 season, Chiles played in nine games for Michigan State, throwing for 1,392 yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions. He was benched after the Spartans’ 31-20 loss to Michigan on Oct. 25 and subsequently sat out the rest of the year with a foot injury. During his time as a starter, his team went 3-5.
Chiles was also Michigan State’s starter in 2024, when it went 5-8. That season, he threw for a career-high 2,415 yards, 13 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
At Oregon State, Chiles threw for 309 yards and four touchdowns in nine appearances as a backup.
He came to the Beavers as a highly touted four-star recruit out of high school, ranked by 247Sports as the No. 7 quarterback in his class.
Chiles was linked to Nebraska, Clemson and Virginia by On3’s Pete Nakos.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Chiles was Northwestern’s first choice at quarterback in the portal.
