Clarke is ranked as high as 101st overall in his class.
Kentucky Football is making big moves in the recruiting world, and it’s not just the transfer portal.
On Tuesday, the Wildcats officially flipped 4-star recruit Andre Clarke Jr. from Michigan. Clarke decommitted from the Wolverines on Monday and signed with Kentucky just one day later. On3’s Hayes Fawcett broke the news first.
A 6-1, 170-pound defensive back out of Richmond (VA), Clarke is a consensus 4-star prospect ranked as high as 101st overall by ESPN. The Rivals Industry Ranking, which factors in all of the major recruiting rankings, has him ranked 229th overall, 23rd among safeties, and fifth in the state of Virginia.
Clarke actually visited Kentucky this past spring when Mark Stoops was still leading the charge, so there was a prior connection that Will Stein was able to use and become a major player in this recruitment. In addition to Kentucky and Michigan, Clarke held additional offers from Miami, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Ole Miss, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Florida State, South Carolina, Indiana, Duke, and SMU, among others.
Clarke will have a great chance to compete for playing time at safety early on with Cam Dooley heading to the transfer portal and Jordan Lovett graduating. Clarke has also spent time at cornerback but is projected to be a college safety.
