Lando Norris set for hefty seven-figure 2026 superlicence fee after 2025 F1 title win

2025 Formula 1 champion Lando Norris is set for a hefty €1,023,658 superlicence fee for 2026.

Every driver must pay a superlicence fee to compete in the championship, although it is worth noting that the bill is usually picked up by the driver's team. The fee consists of a flat rate plus an amount per point scored in the previous season. For Norris, he scored 423 points in 2025, so at €2,392 per point, plus the flat rate of €11,842, the Briton will pay €1,023,658 for the upcoming season. 

Four-time champion Max Verstappen, who finished the 2025 season second in the championship with just two points behind Norris, will also have to pay over €1million. Norris's McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri's bill comes in at just under a million after his third-place finish.

Alpine driver Franco Colapinto, who was the only driver not to score a point in 2025, will only have to pay the flat rate of €11,842. In addition to the Argentinian driver, Arvid Lindblad, Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez will all only pay the base rate, as they did not race in F1 last year.

Verstappen holds the record for the highest superlicence fee after paying €1,217,900 for 2024, following his dominant 2023 season in which he scored 575 points.
