Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson is currently on loan but does not look likely to stick at FC Bayern.
Harry Kane looks increasingly likely to stay at Bayern Munich for the foreseeable future, with contract talks reportedly set for next summer. But the Bavarians will still need a reliever for their 32-year-old lead striker, and the current solution — Chelsea loanee Nicolas Jackson — does not appear to be one for the long term.
From a report in Tz, as captured by @iMiaSanMia:
Bayern are keeping a close eye on the transfer market for a reliable Harry Kane backup. It’s unlikely that on-loan striker Nicolas Jackson will be signed permanently in the summer. Franculino Djú of FC Midtjylland remains on Bayern’s shortlist [@kessler_philipp, @mano_bonke]
Jackson has not been half bad in his scarce opportunities so far, but has not convinced either — though a considerable chunk of his playing time to date has actually been alongside rather than in place of Kane. The 24-year-old Chelsea man is not getting the minutes he needs to consistently showcase what he can do as a lone striker, is not really making an argument to get those minutes, and is unlikely to be satisfied with this kind of playing time anyway.
Djú is a little younger and scoring prolifically for Midtjylland. Would a reserve role appeal to him, though? It sounds like Bayern is well on its way to making a pitch.
