MLS giant LA Galaxy have been dealt a severe blow ahead of the 2026 season, with midfield star Riqui Puig reportedly set to undergo knee surgery.
Per league insider Tom Bogert, this now places the status of the Spanish talisman for the 2026 in question, with the procedure targeting the same knee from the player's horrific torn ACL.
Puig missed the entire 2025 campaign for the legacy club, and his absence was viewed as one of the leading causes for the club's rapid regression that resulted in a 14th-place finish in the Western Conference.
The news comes in the wake of the Galaxy's brilliant maneuvering in the current off-season that has seen Greg Vanney's side impressively reinforced.
At current, the Galaxy have added Jakob Glesnes and Justin Haak into the mix in SoCal, and Puig's previous expected return for the 2026 season was meant to be the final piece of a puzzle that potentially would push the club back into MLS Cup Playoff contention.
