Braves News: José Azocar deal, New Year’s Eve, and more

Atlanta Braves news and notes from Tuesday.

Just Baseball’s Aram Leighton reported Tuesday that the Atlanta Braves agreed to a minor league deal with outfielder José Azocar. The deal includes an invite to Spring Training.

Azocar spent a very brief period in Atlanta in 2025, where he appeared in just two games. He wrapped up 2025 with the New York Mets, where he got a few more reps under his belt.

The Los Angeles Angels and Anthony Rendon have agreed to restructure their contract. The team will defer the remaining $38M of his contract and the third baseman will not return to the Halos. 

Reliever Kirby Yates is headed to the Los Angeles Angels after the two agreed to a one-year deal worth $5M. 

The New York Yankees finalized their one-year, $2.5M deal with infielder Amed Rosario.
