The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has unveiled the list of referees selected to ensure smooth proceedings at the U20 World Cup matches.
In total, 54 officials have been appointed, including 18 center referees and 36 assistant referees from 22 member associations, for the tournament set to take place from September 27 to October 19, 2025, in Chile.
Artan Omar Abdulkadir (Somalia), Gamouh Youcef (Algeria), and Jayed Jalal (Morocco) will represent the African continent as center referees.
Cheruiyot Gilbert (Kenya), Montenegro Abelmiro (São Tomé and Príncipe), Khalil Hassani (Tunisia), Eric Ayimavo (Benin), Lahsen Azagaou (Morocco), and Mostafa Akarkad (Morocco) are the six assistant referees from CAF.
It is worth noting that FIFA will once again trial the Football Video Support (FVS) system at this U20 World Cup, after already testing it at the U20 Women's World Cup in Colombia and the U17 Women's World Cup in the Dominican Republic.
