Commute: Mizzou Football Players on the Move

The morning commute for Wednesday, December 31st, 2025.

Welcome to the Morning Commute

Today we are talking about Mizzou Football!

Numerous players from Mizzou’s 2025 roster are hitting the transfer portal this offseason and Tuesday was a day to remember.

Redshirt sophomore Johnny Williams IV and redshirt junior Jayven Richardson announced plans to enter the transfer portal early in the day, and redshirt sophomore Brandon Solis became the third Missouri offensive tackle to announce his intentions.

The offensive line is quickly becoming a spot of need this offseason for Drinkwitz & Co. as depth is at an all-time low.

Aside from the offensive line, both Robert Meyer and Ryder Goodwin have also announced their intentions to hit the portal this offseason, leaving Blake Craig as the lone real option for Mizzou special teams.

This is definitely an ongoing subject so the best way to stay updated is the Rock M+ forums!

We have more discussion on football and basketball, diving into prospects, visits and PFF grades in the Rock M+ forums. Most recently, we’ve got more discussion on the Mizzou’s season grade.

Don’t be surprised if Burden will be out on Sunday in the regular season finale against the Lions on Sunday just for precautionary reasons before the playoffs. After all, Burden and the Bears have already wrapped up the NFC North.

Brutal beat for a former Mizzou Tiger that had an extremely productive Sunday. I don’t expect this injury to be too bad though.

Without an offensive coordinator, the top two quarterbacks, two of their three most targeted receivers, their tight end, their starting center after the second drive, and their best receiver battling some illness, Drinkwitz cracked open the ‘21/‘22 vintage offense, where he ran three plays and couldn’t generate a competent passing attack.

Drinkwitz was quite short handed on Wednesday, and it showed. Plenty to be upset about from the result, but that’s not going to be the team Mizzou comes into 2026 with.

While this strong non-conference was a big first step in year one under Kellie Harper, the toughest test lies ahead. The SEC as a whole has had an incredible non-conference season, with no team currently ranked outside the top 100 of the NET. As a result, wins will be nowhere as easy to come by.

Big question marks still await as, although the Mizzou nonconference slate looked good, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. The Kellie Harper era still has some proving to do.

While last year, only six meets counted as part of the NQS, this season a minimum of nine will be counted, including a maximum five home meets. If a team competes in more than five home meets, then only the five lowest home scores will be factored in.

Big implications coming to college gymnastics as the sport continues to evolve. Mizzou coach Shannon Welker said he didn’t believe it would inpact too much.

Old Dominion receiver Ja’Cory Thomas has shown interest in Mizzou and will likely plan a visit soon. Thomas spent one year at ODU and was at Hutchinson CC prior. He was teammates with Mizzou commit Demarcus Johnson in 2024 when Hutchinson went 10-1 and won a JUCO National Championship.

Could be a name to keep an eye on as the transfer portal opens.

Over at Rock M+ we have more Mizzoufootball discussion in forums ahead of bowl season, and basketball discussion ahead of SEC play.

From Rock M Radio: Dive Cuts

With the SEC season ramping up, it’s time to take stock for where the league stands, and where Missouri fits into the full group. It’s been a disappointing non-conference season for the SEC at large, so who better to dive into the league and all that’s occurred in the last few months than Southeastern16’s Blake Lovell.
