AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF)– Each January, WJBF NewsChannel 6 presents the Border Bowl, featuring the top high school senior football players in the CSRA … Georgia vs. South Carolina! This year’s showdown is set for Saturday, January 10th at Harlem High School.
David Jacobsen, the President and CEO of our local Ronald McDonald House, and Taylor Newton, WJBFf’s Director of Community Involvement, talk about the importance of the event.
The Border Bowl gets bigger and more popular every year.
And while it’s a great honor for the players and coaches, Jacobsen explains the best part is that 100% of Border Bowl proceeds go to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Augusta.
“Celebrating the top athletes in both cheerleading and football and everyone get coming together for all of that, it’s it’s really a wonderful time. And the fact that it comes back to support our mission, the mission of the round Mac McDonald house is to provide essential services that are able to remove barriers for families to keep them when their child is in a local hospital to be able to keep them close to their child. And we really worked to strengthen families and then promote healing.”
RMHC keeps families close to their children who are patients at Children’s Hospital of Georgia.
You can buy tickets online now for $10. $15 at the gate. Parking is $5 – cash only. Parents of players & cheerleaders DO need to buy tickets.
