Stefon Diggs accused of strangulation by female personal chef, police report says

A virtual hearing was held at Dedham District Court on Tuesday.

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs is facing multiple criminal charges following allegations made by his female personal chef, who accused him of assault during a dispute over payment.

Diggs is now facing charges of felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery. A virtual hearing was held at Dedham District Court Tuesday morning, during which Diggs’ attorney, David Meier, filed a motion to impound the police report and related case documents. The defense argued the request was made to prevent undue public scrutiny.

The motion was denied by the judge, and the incident report was subsequently made public and obtained by Pats Pulpit.

According to the police report, the alleged incident occurred on Tuesday, Dec. 2. The victim told police that Diggs entered her unlocked bedroom following an ongoing text exchange regarding money she said she was owed. She stated the discussion escalated into a physical confrontation. The report read:

“She said that on this date, the male that she worked for entered her unlocked bedroom. They had been having an ongoing text exchange over money owed to (victim). She said that they began to discuss this, which apparently angered the male.

“She alleges that the male then smacked her across the face. She said that she tried to push him away. The male then tried to choke her using the crook of his elbow around her neck. She said that he was behind her with his arm wrapped around her. She said that she did feel like she had trouble breathing and that she felt like she could have blacked out. She said that as she tried to pry his arm away, he tightened his grip. At that point, the male threw her onto the bed.

“He said something to the effect of, ‘Thought so.’ And then she told him that she still hasn’t been paid. At that point, the male said ‘Lies’ and walked out of the room.”

In an emailed statement to Pats Pulpit, Meier said Diggs denies the allegations.

“Stefon Diggs categorically denies these allegations. They are unsubstantiated, uncorroborated, and were never investigated — because they did not occur. The timing and motivation for making the allegations is crystal clear: they are the direct result of an employee-employer financial dispute that was not resolved to the employee’s satisfaction. Stefon looks forward to establishing the truth in a court of law.”

According to the report, the victim first provided a statement to the Dedham Police Department on Dec. 16. Charges were not filed until Dec. 23. The report notes that the victim initially did not identify Diggs by name, citing his public profile.

The victim reportedly began working for Diggs in late July and was scheduled to continue through the end of the 2025-26 NFL season. She told police that payments for her work needed to be signed off by Diggs, leading to the confrontation. After leaving the position and the residence, she was allegedly informed by Diggs’ assistant that she would be paid if she signed a non-disclosure agreement. She declined.

According to The Boston Globe, Diggs’ defense team said it was working on a monetary resolution to the incident.

The Patriots organization released a statement Tuesday morning supporting Diggs.

“The New England Patriots are aware of the accusations that have been made regarding Stefon Diggs,” the statement read. “Stefon has informed the organization that he categorically denies the allegations. We support Stefon. We will continue to gather information and will cooperate fully with the appropriate authorities and the NFL as necessary. Out of respect for all parties involved, and given that this is an ongoing legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time.”
