Jonathan Tah and FC Bayern are a natural fit.
It’s no great secret that Bayern Munich have a leadership council within the team. A group of five to six players dedicated to serve as a bridge between the team and the club’s hierarchy. Bayern’s current leadership council consists of six players: Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Harry Kane, Serge Gnabry and Jonathan Tah.
Tah’s inclusion doesn’t come as a surprise considering his role as vice-captain to Lukas Hradecky in his time at Bayer Leverkusen. However, what did surprise Tah was how quickly he broke into a leadership role for his new side.
“It was definitely something special for me to be elected to the team council so quickly,” confessed the 29-year-old center-back (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “It felt strange at first because I didn’t really know half the team yet. Now I want to justify that trust through my performance, but also through my behavior off the pitch.”
Tah’s transfer to Bayern was received with mixed emotions. But he has certainly kept his word, delivering a set of strong, consistent performances in his first half season in a Bayern jersey. Considering his leadership capabilities and professionalism, the German international’s behavior off the pitch was never likely to be a problem, and as of yet hasn’t been.
A capable leader and consistent performer, all for a free from a direct rival; Jonathan Tah has been a smart piece of business for Bayern.
