This isn't ideal for the Colorado rookie.
There's a lot of training camp and preseason still to go.
But at the Cleveland Browns' opening practice on Wednesday, things didn't look great for the rookie QB out of Colorado, Shedeur Sanders.
The Athletic's Zac Jackson posted on X throughout the practice, sharing the other that quarterbacks took reps in each portion of the day.
Sanders was the last man up in every drill.
The 40-year old Joe Flacco sat out a few sequences, but when he participated, he went first.
Kenny Pickett, the other veteran competitor, went next.
Then it was rookie Dillon Gabriel, who was chosen 50 picks before Sanders.
Only once they had all gone could Sanders take the field, whether it was 7-on-7 or 11-on-11 or 11-on-0.
Stefanski asked about QB practice order and what we might read into that.

“It may change tomorrow — it will change tomorrow.”
Said team has a plan/schedule for first 4 practices and will re-assess QB reps for next week following Sunday off day.

The Browns followed a similar procedure during OTAs, essentially sticking to the script of veterans and then the rookie who was drafted earlier followed by the rookie who was drafted later.
For Sanders to stick around the team long term, and maybe challenge for a starting spot eventually, he's going to have to seize his chances when they come.
But right now, Sanders is stuck at the bottom of the totem pole.
