Kara Lawson’s team appears to be putting together a major turnaround.
After a dreadful five-game stretch that saw Duke go 1-4 and fall to 3-6, the Blue Devils have now won four straight and Sunday’s win over Syracuse put them back over .500.
And like the last three wins, this one was solid too with Duke prevailing 71-51, and on the road too. Duke struggle a bit offensively but the defense strangled the Orange, holding Syracuse to 17% on threes and 34% overall. Syracuse also had 19 turnovers.
The Blue Devils were again paced by sophomore star Toby Fournier, who scored 22 on 10-15 shooting (not threes) and grabbed 7 rebounds.
Ashlon Jackson and Riley Nelson both had 11 points. Arianna Roberson had 12 points in 16 minutes which is incredibly impressive.
Despite the earlier struggles, at 2-0, Duke is still tied for first place in the ACC. Next up is Boston College in Cameron on Thursday.
