Patriots place Mack Hollins on injured reserve, turn to practice squad ahead of Week 17

The veteran wide receiver had been ruled out on the final injury report.

The New England Patriots will finish the regular season without Mack Hollins.

The organization officially sent the veteran wide receiver to injured reserve on the eve of Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. Filling the open spot on the 53-man roster, defensive tackle Jeremiah Pharms Jr. has been signed from the practice squad in a corresponding move.

Hollins, 32, had been ruled out due to an abdomen injury after being listed as a non-participant for three consecutive days. He will now spend at least four games on injured reserve as the Patriots finish out the schedule with an AFC playoff berth in hand.

Since reaching a two-year, $8.7 million contract in March, Hollins has appeared in every game while starting 13. The Super Bowl LII champion stands with 46 catches for 550 yards and two touchdowns this campaign. His 657 offensive snaps lead the wideout depth chart. Selected in the fourth round of the 2017 draft out of the University of North Carolina, he made previous stops with the Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins, Las Vegas Raiders, Atlanta Falcons and Buffalo Bills.

Pharms, 29, now rejoins the 53-man roster in Foxborough after twice serving as a standard elevation. He has handled 27 snaps on defense and 10 snaps on special teams in 2025, registering one quarterback hit and two tackles, including a turnover on downs on a non-field goal.

The 6-foot-2, 300-pound Pharms made the initial active roster in August before being waived and brought back on the practice squad. Through 30 games and a handful of starts with New England, he has tallied 44 tackles, two sacks and one fumble recovery. Undrafted in 2020 by way of Sacramento City College, San Joaquin Delta College and Friends University, the defensive tackle made stops with the Champions Indoor Football League’s Wichita Force and USFL’s Pittsburgh Maulers before entering the NFL ranks in 2022.

The Patriots have also elevated defensive tackle Leonard Taylor III and cornerback Kobee Minor from the practice squad for Sunday. Both are scheduled to revert after the visit to MetLife Stadium.

Taylor, 23, debuted as a call-up midway through December and recorded two tackles through five defensive snaps. Undrafted out of the University of Miami in 2024, the 6-foot-3, 305-pound defensive lineman joined New England’s practice squad in October after being waived by the Jets. He has recorded 29 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a pair of batted passes through 17 career contests.

Minor, 23, had one elevation remaining after serving as a back-to-back elevation for the Patriots in September. The 5-foot-11, 188-pound corner has played six snaps on special teams during his rookie year. Taken in the seventh round of the 2025 class at No. 257 overall, he was retained on the practice squad in August. After stints at Indiana and Texas Tech, the latest “Mr. Irrelevant” finished his 45-game collegiate run at Memphis.

New England also ruled out wide receiver Kayshon Boutte, guard Jared Wilson, defensive tackles Milton Williams and Khyiris Tonga, as well as linebackers Harold Landry III and Robert Spillane on the final injury report of the week. Running back TreVeyon Henderson, wide receiver DeMario Douglas and cornerback Charles Woods move forward with questionable game statuses.

Sunday’s kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET.
