Chicago could cash in on its young star.
Despite a quiet offseason up to this point, the Chicago Bulls are still open for business.
Over the past few weeks, not much has happened in Chicago. As Billy Donovan is set to enter his sixth season as the franchise’s head coach, he seems to be set to coach almost the same roster as he did toward the end of last season.
Of course, Josh Giddey’s contract situation needs to be straightened out. However, outside of Giddey’s extension, nothing else seems imminent in terms of a big move in Chicago.
Just because everything has been quiet thus far doesn’t guarantee things will stay that way as the season gets closer. With the Bulls still looking to make some deals to fully enter this new era, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints recently reported that Ayo Dosunmu has some potential suitors around the league.
Since splashing onto the scene as a rookie in the Bulls’ breakout 2021-22 season, he has been a fixture of the team’s backcourt. Although last season was cut short due to injury, Dosunmu continued to showcase his skills across 46 games, averaging 12.3 points and 4.5 assists, both career-highs.
Considering the guard is entering the final year of his contract, Dosunmu’s $7.5 million deal for next season makes him a desirable guard on the trade market. With teams such as the Golden State Warriors interested in the guard, he could soon be making a difference for a playoff team.
There is still the possibility of Chicago holding onto its second-round gem next season, but the Bulls might be wise to trade the 25-year-old while his value is at its highest.
