The Tennessee Volunteers will indeed see one of their top players leave Knoxville and turn his sights to playing on Sundays.
Hood confirmed on Twitter (X) on Wednesday that he is indeed declaring for the NFL Draft.
Hood joins Jermod McCoy as two members from the Vols’ 2025 cornerback room to declare for this draft this month.
The move is an absolute no brainer for Hood. Coming in last offseason as a transfer from Colorado, Hood was a major standout for Tennessee this season. He excelled in both run support and in coverage. He had just a 6.7% missed tackle rate this season, which is remarkable for a cornerback. In coverage, he posted a PFF coverage mark of 81.2. He allowed 27 catches on 52 targets, and opposing quarterbacks had a passer rating of just 69.7 when targeting Hood.
Hood has projected as a day two pick with potential to be taken in the first round. Those projections could rise of Hood turns in a strong showing during pre-draft workouts, particularly at the NFL Combine.
Best of luck to Hood as he continues his football journey.
