LSU defensive lineman Jay'Viar Suggs transferred to Wisconsin ahead of the 2025 season. See how he performed in 2025 with the Badgers:
Much was made of LSU Football’s haul during last year’s transfer portal window, but less attention was paid to who they lost. Three Tigers from that departing transfer class made the College Football Playoff, including safety Sage Ryan, edge rusher Da’Shawn Womack, and wide receiver CJ Daniels.
Another highly touted Tiger transfer was Jay’Viar Suggs, who left LSU for Wisconsin after spending one season in Baton Rouge.
Suggs began his career at Grand Valley State, where he played from 2019 to 2023, per Wisconsin's website. He then spent a year at LSU before landing at Wisconsin for his final season. Suggs was a four-star prospect in last year’s portal class, ranked 26th among defensive line transfers, per 247Sports.
Suggs has since declared for the NFL Draft, according to his personal social media.
He had a productive season in Madison, totaling 16 pressures, two sacks, and eight run stops, per PFF. Although the Badgers didn’t have the season they hoped for, Suggs got what he wanted: significant playing time at a Power Four program. He played 334 snaps in 2025, more than doubling his playing time with the Tigers in 2024.
