Oklahoma State hired Patrick Cobbs as run game coordinator and running backs coach and Ike Eguae as assistant defensive line coach, it was announced Monday.
Cobbs, a Tecumseh graduate, is a steal for new coach Eric Morris. Cobbs is a North Texas legend as a player and coach, having joined the staff in 2019.
He was named the FootballScoop Running Backs Coach of the Year this season after coaching running back Caleb Hawkins, a North Rock Creek graduate, to the national lead in scoring, total touchdowns and rushing touchdowns, while also ranking No. 6 in all-purpose yards per game, No. 13 in rushing yards per game and No. 17 in yards per carry.
Cobbs graduated as North Texas' all-time leading rusher and he led the nation in rushing in 2003. He played 54 games over five seasons with the Miami Dolphins.
Eguae spent last season at North Texas and has worked with new OSU defensive coordinator Skylar Cassity the past two seasons. He played at Division II Pittsburg (Kansas) State before coaching stops at Coffeyville Community College, Pittsburg State, Fort Hays State, Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston and North Texas.
OU women's basketball scores 126 points in rout of NC Central
Zya Vann scored 21 points with 10 rebounds, six steals and three blocks to help No. 8 OU break the program record for points in a game during a 126-54 trouncing of North Carolina Central on Monday in Norman.
It marked career highs in points, rebounds and blocks for Vann, who shot 8 of 11 from the floor. She was one of eight Sooners to score in double figures as Oklahoma (12-1) broke the previous record of 122 points set last season against Western Carolina.
Aaliyah Chavez had 20 points, seven assists and five steals for the Sooners. Sahara Williams pitched in 16 points and seven rebounds, Raegan Beers tallied 15 points and 10 rebounds and Keziah Lofton also scored 15 as Oklahoma shot 54.5% from the field and 14 of 30 (46.7%) from 3-point range.
Aniya Finger paced NC Central (2-10) with 17 points on 7-of-18 shooting and five rebounds off the bench. The Eagles had 29 turnovers that Oklahoma converted into 36 points.
