Anderson Silva returned to the win column with a spectacular knockout victory over fellow UFC veteran Tyron Woodley as part of the Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua fight card last weekend in Miami. The bout came together on short notice after Chris Weidman, Silva’s original opponent, withdrew due to injury.
Following his victory over Woodley, “The Spider” once again campaigned for an “All American” trilogy. That would give the Brazilian an opportunity to avenge two prior losses to Weidman but rob the fans of a boxing showdown opposite another UFC middleweight veteran in the form of Yoel Romero.
Romero annihilated Weidman at UFC 205 back in late 2016.
“I want every sport, and don’t blink because boxing, I’m coming for the boxing,” Romero told The Schmo. “You see what happened, Anderson Silva beat Tyron. But he called the wrong name! He said he wants to fight Weidman. Come on, Silva. Come on, my man. You know I am the man. You need to fight with me. You need to fight me, I need to fight you. Let’s do it! Boxing, let’s go Anderson. See you soon, boy.”
Romero is coming off a wrestling victory over Pat Downey.
That performance will send “Soldier of God” into a Real American Freestyle (RAF) collision against UFC middleweight Bo Nickal on Jan. 10 in Sunrise, the second time RAF has tried to book this fight. Following that wrestling showdown, Romero can focus on his shift to the “sweet science.”
Whether or not Officer Silva will be interested remains to be seen.
