Good morning, Fear the Wall.

Happy Holidays! We have reached the end of the hinrunde, and the Bundesliga’s biggest stars will be celebrating their time off to rest and recharge before the winter training camps start in a couple weeks. That is, unless they’re African, in which case they have likely already shipped off for the African Cup of Nations this winter. Borussia Dortmund will only be represented by Ramy Bensebaini in this edition of the tournament, as Guinea failed to qualify, meaning Serhou Guirassy will remain with the BVB squad. Good luck Ramy!

In other news… um, actually I’m not totally looped into the football world right now. I’m currently visiting family for the holidays and the travel has me a little out of sorts. I keep thinking it’s the wrong day, and I missed the game against Gladbach on friday so I don’t have much to add there. Well, let’s see what Twitter has to say.

BVB News

  • Former BVB head coach Lucien Favre has announced his retirement from the touchline. Favre brought BVB famously close to the title in 2018/19, and is regarded by many as one of BVB’s top coaches in the post-Klopp era.
  • Sebastian Kehl threw cold water on the transfer rumors surrounding summer signing Fabio Silva, suggesting the Portuguese forward is not up for discussion this January.
  • Adeyemi is set to be disciplined for his outburst following his substitution on Friday. Sounds like the club bosses didn’t like his reaction.

Bundesliga News

  • Wolfsburg’s Dzenan Pejcinovic notched the Bundesliga’s youngest ever hattrick this weekend, and still saw his team lose to Freiburg. That’s bitter as hell.
  • Speaking of Freiburg, Vincenzo Grifo broke their all-time goalscoring record this weekend. Seems fitting, he has been there forever.
  • Levekusen pipped Leipzig to snag third spot behind Borussia Dortmund going into the break. Leverkusen has the majority of the ball and the chances, with an xG of 2.72 to Leipzig’s 1.77. The outcome is a win for BVB, who get to take 2nd place into the break.

What do BVB need most from Santa this Christmas? Let me know in the comments.
