Real Madrid attacker Brahim Diaz led Morocco in the opening game of the AFCON. Diaz scored Morocco’s opening goal and created a penalty on their 2-0 win over Comoros, who managed to survive the entire first half even though Morocco were dominating the game and controlling possession.

Brahim played 76 minutes and seems destined to be one of the leaders of Morocco, who are the main favorites to conquer the competition as they’re also hosting it, which means that the attacker will not be expected to return to Madrid for a few weeks.

While Brahim hasn’t been a relevant player for Real Madrid so far this season, he’s still a rotation player off the bench who could make an impact if given the chance. Xabi Alonso will not be able to use him during the upcoming Spanish Supercup, which is expected to be a decisive tournament to decide his future as Real Madrid’s coach.
