San Diego Padres star shares what it will take to topple the Los Angeles Dodgers as both teams could meet again in the MLB postseason.
Last year, the San Diego Padres had the Los Angeles Dodgers down 2-1 in the Division Series, but couldn't eliminate their NL West rival. As a result, the question that the Padres need to ask themselves is what they need to do to overcome the Dodgers.
Despite Los Angeles being a favorite to win the World Series, San Diego are four games out for the NL West title. The Padres are also battling to hold down a Wild Card spot if the division hopes begin to fade.
Should the Padres and Dodgers can punch their ticket to the postseason, there's a possibility that both teams meet again in the Division Series. Gavin Sheets was on "Foul Territory" and was asked about what he believes the Padres must do to slay the Dodgers.

"I'm excited for the challenge," Sheets said. "Obviously, on paper, they are what they are. And obviously, we're not going to shy away from them because we have a lot of star talent as well. I think that our pitching has been extremely good this year.
"Our hitters—we're starting to pick it up and get it going. Obviously, at the deadline, with [A. J.] Preller and the way he does business, anything can happen. But we got Michael King coming back, hopefully soon, and our team's really lining up to be special.
"I think that the biggest thing is not worry about other teams and just control what you can control and go out every day and stack wins up and see what happens. But obviously, the Dodgers are the head of the pack right now, and we're excited to see what happens in this next sprint."

The Dodgers and Padres have one more series left in the regular season as the two sides have a three-game set between August 15-17 at Dodger Stadium. Moreover, this series will be after the MLB trade deadline, so it will be interesting to see what moves each team makes to bolster their squad for the postseason push.
