Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu will stay at San Siro this summer after his agent Gordon Stipic played down the exit rumours (h/t journalist Gianluca Di Marzio).
Speculations were rife on Calhanoglu’s future in the wake of his fallout with fellow Inter star Lautaro Martinez and president Beppe Marotta.
With the relationship with Inter looked beyond repair, Calahanoglu seemed closer towards a move to Galatasaray, who had submitted an offer worth around €25 million.
But Marotta quickly alleviated the tensions with Calhanoglu, insisting that there had been no concrete offers and the Turk would remain at Inter.
While the rumours have resurfaced over the last few days linking Calhanoglu with a move to Fenerbahce, Stipic has put an end to the speculation on his client’s future once and for all.
Stipic has stated that Calhanoglu has never intended to leave Inter and wants to be part of the club’s project.
Moving from AC Milan on a free transfer, Calhanoglu has played a key role behind Inter’s dominance in the past few seasons.
The 31-year-old has recorded 38 goals and 32 assists in 183 appearances for the Nerazzurri, winning the 2023/24 Serie A and finishing as runners-up twice in the Champions League.
Inter could also try to open talks soon to extend Calhanoglu’s contract, which expires in June 2027.
Calhanoglu’s decision might also end Inter’s pursuit of a new defensive midfielder in the transfer market.
The Turkish international is gearing to gain full fitness ahead of the 2025/26 season after missing the Club World Cup through injury.
Inter’s new manager Cristian Chivu has bolstered the squad with the signings of Luis Henrique, Petar Sucic and Ange-Yoan Bonny.
They are in advanced talks to secure the transfer of Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman, who has given the green light for a move to San Siro.
