Germany’s out-of-form ski jumpers Andreas Wellinger and Karl Geiger will return to the German squad for the Four Hills Tournament, coach Stefan Horngacher said on Saturday.
"I can say that already. They are definitely in for Oberstdorf. I will certainly take them, because they are my two best jumpers of recent years," Horngacher told a news conference in Engelberg about Wellinger, 30, and Geiger, 32.
Both have not played a major role in the current World Cup and were dropped from the main team ahead of the tournament dress rehearsal in Switzerland this week.
"We have a national group in Oberstdorf and have nine places available. There will certainly be a place for the two of them," Horngacher said ahead of the Four Hills opener in Oberstdorf on December 29.
"It is certainly not down to their attitude (that they were dropped in Switzerland)," said Horngacher, who is in his final season as national coach.
He said the aim at the Four Hills was for the duo to get back in form ahead of the Ski Flying World Championships in Oberstdorf in January and the Olympics in Italy in February.
