Enquirer names Cincinnati high school athletes of the week for Dec. 19

Cincinnati.com readers selected the Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine's Athletes of the Week from high school sports action through Dec. 14.

In a vote that ended Dec. 19, Cincinnati.com readers selected the 2025-2026 Cincinnati Enquirer/Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Athletes of the Week from high school sports action through Dec. 14.

Winners can print their certificates from this week starting Monday and other weeks now using this Drop Box link. Send a photo of the winners with their certificates for our photo gallery.

Here are this week's winners.

Ohio big-school boys basketball team:Lebanon – Lebanon grabbed back-to-back wins over the weekend against West Clermont and Anderson.

Ohio small-school boys basketball team:Deer Park – Deer Park won its second game in a row with a 68-55 win over Finneytown.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys basketball team:Bellevue – Bellevue won a pair of games away from home against Heritage and Williamstown.

Ohio big-school girls basketball team:Mount Notre Dame – Mount Notre Dame handled St. Ursula and Mercy McAuley to remain undefeated at 5-0.

Ohio small-school girls basketball team:Clermont Northeastern – Wins against Blanchester and East Clinton pushed Clermont Northeastern’s winning streak to four in a row.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls basketball team:Notre Dame – The Pandas outlasted Holy Cross, 43-41, to move to 3-0 on the season.

Boys winter team:Lebanon bowling – The Warriors took down Turpin 2389-1634, Hamilton 2509-1940 and Winton Woods 2967-1940 over the week.

Girls winter team:Seton swimming – The Saints won the Best of the West meet, scoring 428 total team points.

Ohio big-school boys basketball:Carson Duke, West Clermont – He scored 40 points in a 68-60 loss to Milford.

Ohio small-school boys basketball:Tyler Owens, Goshen – He had 35 points on 16-of-22 shooting with nine rebounds, two assists and three steals in a 72-58 win over Batavia.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys basketball:A.J. Davis, Ryle – He had 20 points in a 59-45 win over Lloyd.

Ohio big-school girls basketball:Khalia Thompson, Lebanon – The freshman recorded a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Loveland.

Ohio small-school girls basketball:Briez Kelly, Summit Country Day – The junior had 13 points and six rebounds in a win at Norwood, then scored 21 points with six rebounds against Roger Bacon.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls basketball:Charlotte Pinkiewicz, Villa Madonna – The freshman guard averaged 10 points, six rebounds, and nine assists over a three-game stretch.

Boys big-school bowling:Colton Dickerson, Springboro – He had games of 257 and 255 in a win over Wayne.

Boys small-school bowling:Jack Weaver, Mariemont – He had games of 225 and 206 in a win over Taylor.

Girls big-school bowling:Hannah Weigle, Little Miami – She had games of 226 and 195 in a win over Monroe.

Girls small-school bowling:Lucy Heringer, Deer Park – She had games of 192 and 163 in a win over Mariemont.

Boys swimming/diving:Matthew Schomaker, Roger Bacon – Against Fenwick and Purcell Marian, Schomaker won the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard breaststroke.

Girls swimming/diving:Camille Smitherman, Seton – The senior won the 50 and 100 free at the Best of the West and was on Seton’s winning 200 and 400-yard freestyle relay teams.

Ohio boys wrestling:Leo Beard, Wyoming – Beard won the 157-pound bracket at the Everette Howard Memorial, going 5-0 with three pins.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys wrestling:Luke Cornwell, Ryle – At the Raider Rumble, Cornwell won the 138-pound title with three pins in four matches, including one in the finals.

Girls wrestling:Liberty Johnson, Clermont Northeastern – Johnson reached the championship semifinals at the Women of Ironman and placed fourth at 125 pounds.

If you win, what's next?

The Enquirer will no longer mail certificates to schools after getting feedback that families weren't receiving them. Alex Harrison will make digital copies of all certificates available to families by 8 a.m. the Monday after the Friday win. Families will access the PDFs through this public Dropbox link.
