Joe Burrow opened the door to a possible trade from the Cincinnati Bengals this week. When asked if he has ever thought about playing for another NFL franchise, Burrow said, “You think about a lot of things.” That is not very reassuring for the Bengals after missing the playoffs for a second straight year.
While the Bengals quarterback expects to be the starter in Cincinnati next season, he has opened a can of worms ahead of the team’s offseason. Could Burrow request a trade if he doesn’t believe the Bengals are going to field a Super Bowl-caliber team around him in 2026?
Below, we dive into five landing spots for Burrow if he requests a trade from the Bengals this offseason.
Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings would be a perfect fit. Burrow would be reunited with wide receiver Justin Jefferson while joining an elite offensive system led by head coach Kevin O’Connell. Minnesota has struggled with J.J. McCarthy at quarterback, and while he has improved, why would the team pass on this opportunity? Burrow to the Vikings would likely be the best outcome for everyone involved.
New York Jets
The New York Jets haven’t done a great job with developing quarterbacks, so why not use draft picks to acquire one? Burrow would downgrade to a team that hasn’t made the playoffs in 15 years, but this trade is more about Cincinnati. The NFL team could get a massive haul of draft picks from the Jets, while Burrow is stuck with an organization that is far away from the playoffs.
Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons need a new starting quarterback, and Burrow would be an excellent fit. With Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts on offense, Burrow would be surrounded by elite weapons in what is currently a weak NFC South. The Falcons’ biggest issue is their draft capital; however, it’s hard not to dream about Burrow in that offense.
Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals could be looking for a starting quarterback. With Kyler Murray possibly on the market, Arizona could pursue a possible swap with Cincinnati. Burrow would have Marvin Harrison Jr., Trey McBride, and Michael Wilson as his weapons moving forward. Much like Atlanta, the Cardinals would turn into an offensive juggernaut with Burrow.
Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams have Matthew Stafford at quarterback, but it is important to plan for the future. Stafford is playing at an MVP-caliber level at 37 years old, but it’s hard not to dream about Burrow playing in a Sean McVay offense with wide receiver Puka Nacua. The Rams are a more likely destination if a trade happens after the 2026 NFL season; however, Burrow with McVay would be a nightmare for opposing defenses.
