Jake Paul’s boxing career has been riddled with criticism from the jump due to his careful selection of opponents. This is the criteria: If you’re old, washed, an ex-NBA player or an ex-UFC champion with little boxing experience, you fit the bill. But all of that changes tonight because “El Gallo” will take a huge step up in level of competition when he goes up against Joshua, the former WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO Heavyweight champion of the world. Not to mention, he is facing a much…much bigger man with the knockout power in his hands to cause major damage to the best big men on the planet (example here), much less a smaller man with limited boxing experience. Many are still doubting the legitimacy of this bout, but rest assured this is a real sanctioned pro fight, not an exhibition (details on that here).

Joshua took the fight on short notice, but let’s be real, it’s not a big challenge for him when you compare all of the big professional names he’s fought and defeated in the past. That’s not just a simply knock on Paul, it’s sheer facts. Paul was quick to pick on Joshua for getting slept by Daniel Dubois in his last fight (see it here), but that is nothing for the towring Brit to hang his head low over because Dubois is a legit big man with massive power in his hands. Paul has proven to have some power in his hands, but let’s not act like he’s proven to have enough to take donw a man the size of Joshua, so him mocking “A.J” for that loss is a bit much. Joshua is adamant he isn’t overlooking “El Gallo,” and already vowed to end it as soon as possible which, if he’s being honest, he can very well do. If I’m being honest I still can’t wrap my head around this one. One the one hand I’m eager to see how it unfolds. On the other, meanwhile, there is just no telling how hard Joshua will be throwing or if it’s all just one big ruse. Should Paul do the unthinkable it will turn the boxing world upside down. If Joshua ends it early and violently, well, most will have expected that so it’s a lose-lose situation for the bruising Brit either way.

Original Card vs. Actual Card:

A little over a week ago, Paul and Co. added a last-minute bout to the card in the form of Caroline Dubois (11-0-1) taking on Camila Panatta (8-2-1) in a WBC Lightweight title fight. Paul signed Dubois — who holds the WBC lightweight title — to his growing stable of fighters. The former Olympian is the younger sister of former WBA and IBF Heavyweight champion, Daniel Dubois. She has five knockouts to her credit, two in the very first round. As for Panatta, the Italian-born fighter is coming off a decision win over Marisol Corona and has only one knockout to her credit. To say she will come in as the underdog and out-gunned will be an understatement.

How The ‘Prelims’ Look:

Cherneka Johnson will defend her WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO Bantamweight titles against undefeated (12-0-1) challenger Amanda Galle in 10-round bout. Johnson is 30 years old, with the Australian-New Zealand fighter coming in with an 18-2 record with eight knockouts. Johnson defended her undisputed status earlier this year thanks to a ninth-round TKO victory over Shurretta Metcalf in July. As for Galle, the 36-year-old Canadian will come in with a 12-0-1 record with only one knockout to her credit. She won the IBO Bantamweight title in 2023 and is coming off a unanimous decision win over Alondra Yamille Hernandez Mendoza just three months ago. This fight will be her U.S. debut with all of her previous bouts going down in Canada.

In women’s Strawweight action, Yokasta Valle (33-3) will defend her WBC Strawweight title against Yadira Bustillos (11-1). Valle is a three-division world champion (Flyweight, Mini Flyweight and Light Flyweight) and won the WBC Strawweight title in November 2024. Her most recent bout was a split-decision win over Marlen Esparza in a non-title fight. She’s never been stopped and boasts a 30-percent knockout rate. As for Bustillos, she turned pro in 2021 and has managed to score two knockout victories in her young career, with one of those coming in her last bout against Tamara Demarco in February 2025. This is her first shot at a world title, so she is determined to make the most of it.

Avious Griffin (17-1) will face off against Justin Cardona (10-1) in a Welterweight affair. Griffin suffered his first loss earlier this year via knockout to Julian Rodriguez on a Paul vs. Chavez Jr. undercard. That said, he has finished 14 of his foes, amassing an impressive 94-percent knockout rate. As for Cardona, the 26-year is coming off a close decision win over Elijah Williams, but does have five knockouts on his short resume. “The Stallion” is on the hunt for one of the biggest wins of his career against an established veteran which could catapult him to the next level.

Keno Marley (0-0) will make his pro debut against Diarra Davis Jr. (2-1) in the opening fight of the night. Marley is a two-time Olympian, competing in Tokyo in 2020 and Paris in 2024. He won the gold medal at the 2018 Youth Olympics. Interestingly enough he is also Brazilian Army sergeant, and now he is ready to make a splash in the boxing world. As for Davis, there isn’t a whole lot of tape and info on him since he is just 2-1 thus far. That said, he is more than ready to upset Marley in his debut and begin his own path to making a name for himself in the combat space.

Who Needs A Win Badly:

If we’re keeping real, Joshua needs a win here. A loss would be detrimental for his career and perhaps prove Paul right that his chin is fragile. Let’s not forget, he is in talks to face Tyson Fury (finally) in 2026, so a loss to “El Gallo” will pretty much take all of the steam from that potential blockbuster bout.

Interest Level: 8.5/10

In the co-main event of the evening, Alycia Baumgardner (16-1) battles Leila Beaudoin (13-1) for the Unified Super Featherweight title. Baumgardner is one of the most talented female boxers in the world and is the current WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, IBO & The Ring Super Featherweight champion of the world. She is coming off a unanimous decision win over Jennifer Miranda. She has an overall record of 16-1-1 and is unbeaten in her last 11 fights. She does have seven knockouts on her resume, so she has the skills to take out the best of them. As for Beaudoin, the rising Canadian professional boxer is an amateur national champion who turned pro in 2019 and won WBO International Super-Featherweight Champion five years later in August 2024. With a 13-1 record and an aggressive style that has earned her two knockouts. She may be outclassed on paper, but once the fists start flying anything can happen.

Anderson Silva was originally set to face off against Chris Weidman on the Paul vs. Tank card last month before the event was scrapped (see why here), paving the way for Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) to enlist the services of former UFC Welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley, to fill the void. Both of these men have losses to Paul in the boxing ring, so they have a connection with the matchmakers which gave them an opportunity for a nice payday. Silva is 3-2 as a pro boxer and has focused on just that since walking away from MMA five years ago. As for Woodley, meanwhile, is 0-2 with both defeats coming at the hands of Paul. Other than that, “The Chosen One” has no experience inside the ring. If your betting on Silva to get the win you have a good chance at being correct because he is a far better striker, is taller and has a reach advantage. Woodley is going to have to get in and make it a dirty fight if he wants to get his licks in because Silva has a nice jab and his length will allow him to use it all night if he so chooses to. Woodley needs a win in the worst way here because if he goes 0-3 to kick off his boxing career, I don’t see a lot of matchmakers or other promoters lining up for his services.

Kicking off the main card will be Jahmal Harvey taking on Kevin Cervantes in a Super Featherweight bout. Harvey is a 2021 World Amateur Champion, a 2024 Paris Olympian quarter finalist, and multiple-time U.S. national champion, He scored a first-round stoppage in his August 2025 debut for M.V.P. against Marcelo Del Aguila and looks to collect his second win in what looks to be a promising collaboration with Jake Paul and Co. As for Cervantes, the 25-year-old Colombian brings more pro experience with a 5-0 record, all by way of knockout, which includes his most recent win last month against Juan Armando Obregon Landeros. “El Chino” has an aggressive style that could set the pace and bar for the rest of the main card.

Enjoy the fights!
