Macclesfield Town postpone their home National League North game against Alfreton on Saturday following the death of their striker Ethan McLeod.
Macclesfield Town's home game against Alfreton Town in the National League North on Saturday has been postponed following the death of the club's striker Ethan McLeod.
McLeod, 21, was killed in an accident on the M1 motorway on Tuesday night while travelling back from the Silkmen's league game at Bedford Town.
Macclesfield described McLeod as "incredibly talented" and a "well-respected member" of their squad and said the "news of Ethan's passing has devastated our entire club".
Former Wolverhampton Wanderers academy graduate McLeod joined Macclesfield in the summer and played seven times, scoring three goals.
In a statement on Thursday, Macclesfield said: "In light of the recent tragic events, this Saturday's Enterprise National League North fixture at Alfreton Town has been postponed.
"We would like to thank everyone at Alfreton Town and the National League for their support and understanding."
A new date for the rearranged fixture will be announced "in due course".
