The Wildcats are expected to be in the mix for the productive Seminoles defensive back with two years of eligibility remaining.
Kentucky football is expected to be a player in the recruitment of Florida State transfer cornerback Ja’Brill Rawls, according to Jacob Polacheck of KSR, as the Wildcats continue to reshape their roster through the transfer portal. Rawls, a former three-star recruit out of Pensacola, Florida, spent three seasons in Tallahassee and enters the portal with two years of eligibility remaining.
Rawls played in seven games during the 2025 season for Florida State, emerging as one of the Seminoles’ more productive defenders despite a challenging year for the program. He finished the season with 40 total tackles, two tackles for loss, one interception, and one forced fumble. Florida State struggled to a 5–7 record, but Rawls consistently flashed playmaking ability in the secondary before an injury sidelined him for the final four games of the season.
Coming out of high school, Rawls was viewed as a versatile defensive back with physical tools and upside, traits that translated into steady development during his time with the Seminoles. His experience in a Power Four program and proven production make him an intriguing option for programs looking to add immediate help in the defensive backfield.
For Kentucky, Rawls would fit a growing emphasis on athleticism and experience on the defensive side of the ball as the Wildcats look to reload for the upcoming season. With two years left to play, Rawls offers both short-term impact potential and longer-term stability in the secondary.
As the portal process continues, Kentucky is expected to remain firmly in the mix as Rawls weighs his next move.
