You Want Receipts from Whiny Hurricane Haters? We Got ‘Em!!!
What another delightful week of college football!
The Miami Hurricanes are heading to the College Football Playoffs!!! And boyyyyy did that decision not sit well with some fan bases. Sure, the vast majority of talking heads agreed that Miami’s head-to-head win over Notre Dame had to place Miami over Notre Dame in the final rankings. And to be fair, many Notre Dame fans actually agreed but took issue with the CFP Committee’s decision to put Alabama ahead of both Miami and Notre Dame.
But fair and reasonable opinions did not dominate social media. No sir. Leading up to the selection show there was a chorus of keyboard warriors who were convinced that Miami would be left out of the playoffs for the second straight year. Not just Notre Dame fans – SEC and BYU fans chirped aplenty.
Back by popular demand – TIME TO SHARE THE RECEIPTS!!
There’s no better place to start than with salty, succulent, and savory leprechaun tears.
Amazing. But you know, the reason for this reaction is because Notre Dame fans were so uber confident, and uber wrong, that they could not possibly fathom the Committee would recognize the head-to-head result once the season finished and everyone’s resume was complete.
Turns out Notre Dame needed to be in a conference championship game. Turns out Notre Dame was the one hoping for the SEC to cannibalize itself. Turns out Miami’s fan base wasn’t the delusional fanbase.
But maybe these are just the irrational Notre Dame fans, each blinded by their golden dome projecting into the South Bend sky like a New Year’s Eve tassel on a Tootsie’s stage. What say you, rational ND fan?
Nope, still wrong. Just as a confident, just as wrong.
But Notre Dame is just soooo easy to pick on. Notre Dame fans were dead wrong on how the season opener would go. Notre Dame fans were dead wrong that Miami and Notre Dame were not ‘comparable’ despite having the same record and basically the same outcome against common opponents. Notre Dame fans were also delusional that Jeremiyah Love, who Miami bottled up for 33 yds on 10 carries, would win the Heisman trophy over Miami native Fernando Mendoza.
The season includes week 1 against Miami, which the voters got extra opportunities to watch thanks to the ACC Network.
But you know what, maybe other fan bases were a little more realistic in their confidence. BYU, for example, had to know that they weren’t making the playoffs with two blowout losses to the only other CFP competitive team (not Utah, not how they ended the season), and the Cougars’ best non-conference win was (4-8) Stanford.
…or Vanderbilt, who had zero wins over teams ranked in the final CFP poll.
…or Texas, who finished with three losses including a blowout to lifeless Florida.
Dumb, broken, and a team that nobody wants to see…these thoughtful words truly represent BYU, Vanderbilt, and Texas. Thankfully, the Committee rightfully excluded each from this year’s playoff.
Anyways, back to Notre Lame – the Irish fan base deserves extra attention for their pedantic whining.
Wait, what?!??! Au contraire, Notre Dame fans (and their cancelled “unintelligent thug” podcasters) spew some of the most bitter crap talking on social media. They take this “Catholics vs. Convicts” thing a liiittttle too seriously…
Sure would be nice if someone called out the ‘Domers for their righteous, holier than thou stance.
THANK YOU. And I’m sure that the 100+ replies were mostly Notre Dame fans expressing humility and disagreement on behalf of their Catholic supporting brethren. After all, “whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” Matthew 23:12.
Oh, ok. Well…according to these four calling birds (BOOM – twitter and Christmas reference wrapped in one!), what exactly does moral superiority look like?
Wow, do you take Communion with that mouth?
Ultimately, the hypocrite cry-babies have to live with missing the playoffs just like Miami last year and FSU the year before. Whatchya going to do about it ‘Domers?
Ruin the ACC? Ohhhh no, that would be awful. Miami fans would really hate seeing the ACC collapse just like they really hated FSU and Clemson suing the ACC to lower the buyout. Especially since other ACC fan bases are soooo supportive of Miami representing the ACC in the playoffs.
Touché FSU fans, touché. Maybe, one day, FSU fans can brag about making the playoffs too! Until then, keep sending us those Seminole, Irish, Cougar, and SEC tears. Those delicious, hate-filled, yummy tears.
