Bayern Munich News and Transfer Rumors: Max Eberl still confident in keeping Dayot Upamecano; Bayern eying Bruno Fernandes?; and MORE!

FC Bayern is attempting to re-up Dayot Upamecano…

Eberl thinks threat is overblown (Sport1 via @iMiaSanMia)

Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl is remaining calm and confident when it comes down to the negotiations with Dayot Upamecano.

“What keeps circulating right now is: He rejected [the offer]… threat… ultimatum – all of that is nonsense. We’re in very good talks. The eye of the needle is getting smaller and he has to go through it. My wish would be to go through the eye of the needle and not around it,” Eberl said. “It would be desirable [to get it done before the end of the year], but I can’t promise that. Generally speaking, I’m very optimistic. We’ve already done several contract extensions over the past weeks and months. It’s our big wish [to extend with Upamecano].”

The emergence of Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain as legitimate threats to acquire Upamecano has added some pressure to the situation. Time continues to tick…

Raum available? (Sky Germany’s Philipp Hinze)

In the summer, RB Leipzig star David Raum will see his release clause fall below €40 million:

🔴 Sky Info: Leipzig captain David Raum’s exit clause will drop below €40m next summer. Contract until 2027, no concrete talks yet about a possible extension. But: Raum is very happy at RB, and last summer after missing out on European qualification, he was determined to stay. Leipzig would generally like to extend. No pressure on it yet.

The situation is different for Xaver Schlager, from whom RB is demanding a decision by January at the latest. The Austrian’s contract currently expires this summer.

Raum and Schlager are two of RB Leipzig’s foundational players (not the transactional, transients who act as mercenaries to improve their value before being sold). To lose one — or both— of them would be an absolute killer for Die Roten Bullen.

Vlahović to Milan? (ESPN)

AC Milan is reportedly close to landing the signature of Juventus striker Dušan Vlahović:

Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic is close to reaching an agreement with AC Milan, as Barcelona have doubts over signing him, says Sport. It is increasingly likely that 39-year-old Robert Lewandowski will leave the Blaugrana in the summer when his contract ends, and Vlahovic, 25, is also expected to become a free agent in the summer. However, his wage demands of €12 million a season are an obstacle, while his six goals in 17 appearances have not been enough for Barca to maintain an interest.

Bayern still watching Fernandes? (Sports Mole)

According to a report out of England, Bayern Munich is keeping watch on Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes:

Bayern Munich are reportedly ‘big admirers’ of Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

The 31-year-old gave an interview in November in which he claimed that some of the club directors wanted him gone during the summer window, but they lacked the courage to confront Ruben Amorim, who wanted him to stay. Several Saudi Pro League clubs, such as Al-Hilal were reportedly interested in signing him and were ready to pay around £100m, but Fernandes decided to continue at the club.

According to a report from talkSPORT, several Man Utd players believe that Fernandes could depart in the summer after his bombshell interview. Fernandes has a £57m release clause in his contract that foreign clubs can trigger in the summer, and United could be tempted to cash in on him. The report claims that German giants Bayern Munich are big admirers of the attacking midfielder, who has arguably been Man Utd’s best player post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

Fans of Fernandes or not, it would make no sense to bring in the Portuguese star when Jamal Musiala, Lennart Karl, and Serge Gnabry could all be on the roster….HARD PASS.

Ryerson to Barca? (Sky Germany’s Patrick Berger)

FC Barcelona could be eyeing talented Borussia Dortmund right-back Julian Ryerson:

🔵🔴 FC Barcelona is looking for a (cost-effective) backup for Jules Koundé and have #BVB full back Julian Ryerson (28/🇳🇴) on their list; first talks have taken place between Ryerson camp and Barça. But nothing advanced or concrete at this stage.

Ryerson‘s contract at Dortmund runs until 2028. He is open to a transfer in summer.

Ryerson is mostly known as a right-back, but can play on the left side as well. The Norwegian also has significant experience in playing as a midfielder as well.

Roma chasing Tel (ESPN)

Former Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel is on the radar of AS Roma:

Tottenham Hotspur striker Mathys Tel has emerged as a potential option for Roma amid plans to strengthen their attack. Calciomercato reports. the Giallorossi see the 20-year-old as a potential alternative to Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee, with the Red Devils keen on keeping him until the summer. The Serie A club are yet to make contact with Spurs regarding a deal for Tel, while they are also believed to be looking at Fiorentina’s Albert Gudmundsson.
