Real Madrid face Talavera in the Copa del Rey with a unique caveat to the starting XI linked to Franco Mastantuono’s registration status. Although Mastantuono is included in the squad and wears the number 30 shirt, he is administratively registered as a Real Madrid Castilla player. That classification counts him as a reserve player under Copa del Rey rules and limits Alonso to a maximum of four players with filial (reserve) status in the starting XI.

Madrid have called up six Castilla players for the match. With Mastantuono part of that group, only three additional reserve players can start. That restriction alters how Alonso can use his squad, especially with plans to rest several regulars.

The club registered Mastantuono with Castilla to avoid occupying one of the 25 senior squad slots, a move that previously provided transfer flexibility. But in this Copa context, it limits rotation options and substitution patterns — substitutions may require removing a Castilla player first to stay within competition rules.
