Ohio State running coach requested a dismissal in the civil case filed by Oregon over his buyout after leaving the program in April 2024.
The civil suit filed against Ohio State running backs coach Carlos Locklyn by Oregon for breach of contract is slated for trial after his patrial dismissal request was denied, The Oregonian reported on July 17.
Oregon filed the suit in April after disputing the buyout Locklyn owes the school for leaving the program for Ohio State in the 2024 offseason. According to the claim, Locklyn failed to pay the school his owed buyout rate of $400,000, which was 50% of the remaining salary from his contract with Oregon at the time of departure.
Along with the $400,000 Oregon claims Locklyn originally owed, the school is asking for 9% interest in the suit.
Locklyn's attorney, John Berg, stated in May that Oregon had an "untenable interpretation of the agreement."
Following Locklyn's departure from Oregon, he sent a check of $200,000 to the school, but Oregon returned the check due to is failing to being the full amount they claim Locklyn owes.
No official trail date has been set for the case.
