Brock Purdy details key Week 15 improvement as he ties Hall of Famer

Brock Purdy made NFL history on Sunday as he secured a double-digit win season for the 49ers.

Brock Purdy had his best statistical game of the 2025 season as the 49ers improved to 10-4 with their Week 15 win over the Tennessee Titans. Given the opponent, Purdy’s performance shouldn’t have come as much of a surprise, but the San Francisco quarterback was pleased with an improvement he made on previous showings prior to the bye week.

There have been questions around the velocity on Purdy’s throws since his return from the turf toe injury that disrupted much of his season. Purdy himself had conceded to wanting to drive the ball the better, and he felt he achieved that against Tennessee.

“Yeah, I thought so,” Purdy said in his postgame press conference when asked if he felt he did a better job driving the ball.

“I thought overall just being aggressive and just the way that I was seeing the defense and just letting it go. Leading guys and trying to hit them out of their breaks and things like that. So thought it was a pretty good day for that.”

Purdy made a number of tight window throws during the game and showcased his rapport with Ricky Pearsall, who he was able to hit in stride for a 38-yard catch and run on a throw over the middle in the third quarter. Pearsall finished with 96 yards on six receptions.

The numbers are reflective of an impressive display from Purdy, who finished 23 of 30 for 295 yards and three touchdowns. His 76.7% completion rate and his passer rating of 140.3 both represented season-best marks for Purdy.

That passer rating marked the seventh game in which Purdy has finished with a rating of 140 or above, tying Hall of Famer Kurt Warner for the most by a player in his first four seasons (min. 10 attempts) per game in NFL history.

Purdy tying Warner is fitting given their respective journeys as unlikely quarterback success stories at the highest level. He has a long way to go to match Warner’s career exploits, but Purdy’s hopes of leading the 49ers to more playoff success this season will be drastically improved if he can maintain that uptick in velocity.
