Florentino Pérez
This Monday, Florentino Pérez, president of Real Madrid, once again faced the press. The strongman of Los Blancos took another swipe at Barça.
Clearly, Florentino Pérez, president of Real Madrid, has no intention of letting FC Barcelona off the hook in the José María Enriquez Negreira affair. This case involves the former vice president of the Technical Referees Committee, who was paid by the Catalan club from 2001 to 2018. Speaking to the media on Monday, the Merengue boss did not hold back in criticizing the Blaugrana.
"The Negreira case is currently the most serious issue in the football world. We know that more than 8 million euros were paid for technical referee reports. What's more, these reports were never even received by the coaches. Who could believe that these reports, which the coaches themselves were unaware of, were actually paid for? This highlights the urgent need for radical change. (...) It is possible that a club was relegated as a result of the Negreira case. Our football has been tarnished and justice must be served. Don't forget that the investigating judge assigned to the case described it as systemic corruption. And Barça has admitted these payments were made because they were gaining an advantage. Why? For what purpose? Real Madrid will continue to press the issue, and you, the media, have a fundamental role to play,"
declared the Real Madrid president.
🚨 Florentino Perez: "The Negreira case is the most serious case in football today. How is it possible that the current head of refs is asking us to move on? Some clubs may have been relegated because of it. How can we forget the biggest scandal in football history?” pic.twitter.com/BfZJr5xITo
