Every great story has its end. Patou Kabangu has decided to hang up his boots at the age of 39 after one final stint with FC Saint Eloi Lupopo.
Emerging as a star with TP Mazembe, he netted 9 goals and provided 11 assists in 50 appearances for the Ravens on both continental and international stages. He was part of the golden generation that clinched the CAF Champions League titles in 2009 and 2010, and reached the FIFA Club World Cup final in 2010.
The Mbuji-Mayi native shared a farewell message on social media: "Thank you all! Clubs, presidents, coaches, players, fans, and media... It was a pleasure to share this beautiful show together. You will always have a place in my heart."
Nicknamed "Esau," he represented DR Congo 11 times, scoring 3 goals. He featured for the Leopards in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
