Former Bayern Munich defender Rafinha has ended his football career, he said on Instagram late on Tuesday.
"Today the final whistle on the pitch is for me. The time has come for me to officially say goodbye and I do so with a peaceful heart full of gratitude," he wrote.
In Germany, Rafinha played for Schalke from 2005 to 2010 before moving to Bayern in 2011, where he stayed until 2019.
With the Bavarians, Rafinha won, among other things, seven Bundesliga titles, four German Cups and one Champions League trophy.
Rafinha thanked both clubs, saying Schalke "believed in a boy from Brazil" and that Bayern was "my home for so many years and where I wont everything in football."
After leaving Bayern, Rafinha returned to Brazil, where he played at Flamengo, Grêmio, São Paulo and Coritiba.
