Toronto could use the arm.
The Toronto Blue Jays lead the AL East, but they aren't content.
The Athletic's Jim Bowden writes that the Blue Jays will have to make two or three positive trades before the deadline to hold on to that division lead.
He throws out a few of the usual names that are circulating in all sorts of rumors, but then it gets interesting.
Bowden posits that the Blue Jays could call the Padres about Michael King or Dylan Cease.
King is currently hurt, but he's expected back. He and Cease are both front-line starters.

The Padres wouldn't do that deal just for prospects, because they're in contention, too. But maybe there's a match somewhere on the Toronto MLB roster to go out and get an ace.
It'd certainly be the kind of move that provides a jolt toward playoff contention.
