An iconic football franchise is throwing it back to its roots for 2025.
The Steelers unveiled new alternate uniforms for the 2025 season on Monday, threads that are meant to honor the organization's rich history and tradition.
The new look will still be black and gold, but will have tons of details that pay homage to the squad that started it all in 1933. With a number of tributes to the City of Pittsburgh, the uniforms also draw on one of the most passionate football towns in the country.

Steelers unveil new alternate uniforms
The Steelers posted to social media on Monday to announce their new alternates for the 2025 season, which are meant to honor the rich history and tradition of the organization.
The new threads include a gold throwback jersey with black stripes and white block letters on the front and black block numbers on the back. The tops also have a City of Pittsburgh crest on the left shoulder to show the team's connection to the city.
The helmets are gold with a matte finish and a black stripe down the middle with a gray facemask. The look is complete with beige pants.

"We're excited to unveil our new throwback uniforms, which not only pay tribute to the origins of the Steelers franchise but also to the deep connection we have to our hometown of Pittsburgh," said Steelers President Art Rooney II in a press release.
The uniforms are meant to resemble those worn by the 1933 team, the first in franchise history. The squad founded by Art Rooney Sr. played as the "Pirates" until 1940, when it was renamed as the "Steelers."
"As everyone knows, Pittsburgh is one of the most historic franchises in all of sports, not just football," said Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth in the release. "Being able to showcase the jersey that is a part of that history, it's super cool. These jerseys are going to be talked about, just like I remember when the Steelers wore the 'bumblebee' jerseys, and they're still talked about. These jerseys are going to be talked for a long time."

When will the Steelers wear their new uniforms?
The Steelers will wear their new uniforms on October 26 for a Week 8 home game against the Packers on Sunday Night Football.
"It's especially fitting that we'll debut these uniforms on Sunday night, October 26 when we play the Green Bay Packers – another franchise in the league with a long and rich history," Rooney II said.Â
