Sabrina Ionescu has entered elite status as a 3-point shooter. Having now competed in multiple All-Star, 3-point contests, Ionescu is starting to separate herself from the good, and even the very good shooters in the world.

Ionescu, the New York Liberty's, All-Star point guard, walked away as the 3-point contest champion on Friday night, following a stellar final round, 30-point performance. She took down defending champion, Allisha Gray, of the Atlanta Dream, becoming just the second two-time 3-point contest winner in WNBA history. Only Allie Quigley and Ionescu have won the contest at least two times.

Now that Ionescu is a two-time 3-point contest winner (2023 and 2025), she was able to reveal her motivation to return to the All-Star stage in order to hoist another trophy.

While speaking to ESPN's Holly Rowe following her victory, she admitted to using her 3-point contest loss to Stephen Curry, at the 2024 NBA All-Star game, as motivation for her win on Friday night.

"The last time I was here in Indy against Steph, I lost, so I feel like I had to come back and redeem myself," Ionescu said.

Ionescu took on Curry in the first ever NBA vs. WNBA 3-point contest at the 2024 NBA All-Star weekend, also in Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Curry would go on to win a closely contested shootout over Ionescu on that February night.

And it appears that Ionescu held on to that loss, using it as internal motivation to come back and "redeem" herself.

Mission, accomplished.

Ionescu will now turn her focus to Saturday night's WNBA All-Star game. She'll take the floor as a member of Team Clark, and will take on Team Collier starting at 8:30 p.m. EDT on ABC.
