NFL training camps are starting all across the league, which is spurring action from teams looking to sign players to long-term contract extensions. Meanwhile, Micah Parsons is still waiting to receive an extension from the Dallas Cowboys that makes him the NFL’s highest-paid defender.
Now that T.J. Watt signed a new extension with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Parsons is likely looking at an extension that pays an average of over $41 million per season. Though, for now, it appears the Cowboys want Parsons to honor his full rookie contract and play out the season on an expiring deal.
Yet, that may not be a problem for Parsons, who, according to NFL expert Jordan Schultz, is planning to report to the Cowboys’ training camp even without a new contract signed.
“Cowboys 3x All-Pro Micah Parsons will report to Oxnard, California for training camp despite not having a long-term contract extension with the organization, sources tell me.”

Players often try to play hardball with their teams when entering the final year of their contracts, especially stars whose teams may not be able to afford playing without them. Yet, Parsons seemingly doesn’t have any intention of playing for any team other than the Cowboys.
Or perhaps he feels the Cowboys will appreciate his dedication to the team and feels like reporting to camp is the perfect way for him to receive the best deal possible.
